Why take listening 'On the Road'?
We, as a nation, are responsible for one another's mental health. That is a radical statement for some, but it has been the underlying belief of Sidewalk Talk for a long time.
How we create belonging and care through the way we show up in relationship and the policies we pass directly impact our collective health.
If we feel alone, isolated, marginalized, displaced by people, policies, and our economy, our nervous systems go into high alert. We are hypervigilant and impulsive and act aggressively toward one another.
We aim to change our culture one moment of connection and belonging at a time.
The bus tour is a way for us to have an experience of new people and new perspectives. We aim to listen to people who differ from us and to do so in a committed and concentrated fashion. Some people go on week long meditation retreats. This is a week long listening retreat.

When and Where?
From April 29 to May 5 we will travel down the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. From Boston, MA and finishing in Charlottesville, VA. We will offer listening training and then hit the streets to listen. Along the way we hope to meet in Mosques, Synagogues, with students and local community organizers to partner with you and hopefully leave behind and ongoing listening chapter.
